Why a Doula
Hello
Giving birth should be a shared experience with family and friends. Let them enjoy this wonderful experience while you call on your Doula to do all the work.
A Doula is a trained professional who advises, informs, and offers emotional and physical comfort to a mother and family before, during, and after birth.
Some of the benefits of having a Doula, may include, shortened labor times, decrease in anxiety and/or depression, reduced incidence of a cesarean delivery, and a more positive experience.
Support Services
How I Assist
Prenatal Visits
I take on a limited number of clients at any one time to make sure I provide you and your family the full care and attention that you deserve. By offering Prenatal Visits, my goal is to reduce any stress, allowing you to pay attention to your body and your baby.
Birthing Guidance
With my Birthing Guidance, I offer unwavering support to you and your family before, during and after birth. I will stay in close contact in order to routinely check how you’re doing and step in with anything you might need.
Postpartum Support
Pregnancy, birth and the early days of child rearing can be very scary and stressful. My role with my Postpartum Support service is to ensure you get the best information and care possible. No matter when you need me, I will be there offering support.
About me
Greetings,
My name is Keidra Dorton, and since I was a young girl I have always had a passion for caring for others. I knew this at the young age of eight years old when I told my mom I wanted to become a nurse. As a Southern University graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing, I was able to fulfill that goal going on 23 years now. Years later, I decided to further my knowledge in healthcare and went back to school to obtain a Masters in Healthcare Management. Making a difference in someone's life has always been my reward as a nurse and now I would like to do the same as your Doula. Doula stands for Dependable, Objective, Understanding, Listening, and Attentive. These are all qualities I possess and more. Some time ago I was able to be a part of my nephew's birth which was not only exciting, but there was also a feeling of euphoria as I was supporting my sister through her labor and birth. A feeling I will never forget. I am CPR and ACLS certified, fully vaccinated, and continue to obtain a TB test yearly.
